AI Image Upscaler
Upscale images 2x or 4x with AI directly in your browser. Enlarge photos, art and product shots with sharp edges and preserved detail — no upload, free.
Runs locally in your browser — your file never leaves this device. Powered by the browser’s native Canvas API
Why use AI Image Upscaler?
Built browser-first — which changes what you can expect from a free tool.
Real neural AI when your browser supports it
Runs an ESRGAN super-resolution model via TensorFlow.js directly in your browser. For large photos, it downscales to a size the model can process quickly, runs genuine AI detail recovery on that, then resizes to your exact target — real neural enhancement, not skipped for being large.
Honest fallback, not a silent downgrade
If your browser can’t run the neural model, a multi-pass reconstruction — noise cleanup, local-contrast recovery, edge-aware sharpening — runs instead, clearly labeled as non-AI. It never claims to be the neural engine when it isn’t.
Nothing uploaded
The only network activity is downloading the AI model file itself, once. Your image is processed and never leaves your device.
Full-resolution output, no catch
No watermark, no forced downscale, no premium wall on the 4× factor.
How to use AI Image Upscaler
4 steps, no learning curve.
Open AI Image Upscaler
No sign-up or install needed — the tool is ready as soon as the page loads.
Drop your image (JPG, PNG, WebP, or similar)
Drag it into the drop zone, or click to browse your files. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
Adjust the settings if needed
Most options have a sensible default already selected — change them only if you need something specific.
Download your result
Your output is ready instantly. Click download to save it — the file never left your device during processing.
Where AI Image Upscaler actually gets used
Real situations this tool is built for.
Client delivery
Enlarge a final image without redoing the shoot or the render.
E-commerce listings
Product photos that need to be sharp at a larger display size.
Old or small source photos
Bring a low-resolution scan or an old digital photo up to a usable size.
Print-ready assets
Increase pixel dimensions before a print job that needs more resolution than the original file has.
How the AI works
What actually happens after you press the button.
Check what your browser can run
The tool checks whether your browser supports the neural model at usable speed. Most modern desktop and mobile browsers do.
Recover real detail with AI
A neural network trained specifically for upscaling — called ESRGAN — examines patterns like edges and textures in your photo and generates plausible new pixels to fill in the added resolution.
Fall back honestly if it can’t
If the neural model isn’t available, a multi-pass classical pipeline runs instead — cleaning noise, boosting local contrast, and sharpening edges. It’s labeled plainly as the non-AI engine, never presented as the neural one.
Match your exact target size
The result is resized precisely to your chosen 2× or 4× dimensions before you download it.
Frequently asked questions
About AI Image Upscaler and how Tarumak Studio works.
How does the AI upscaling work?
The default engine runs an ESRGAN super-resolution model directly in your browser (downloaded once from a CDN, then cached). For large photos where full-resolution neural inference would take minutes, the tool downscales to a size the model can process quickly, runs genuine AI detail recovery on that, then resizes to your exact target dimensions — real neural enhancement either way, not skipped for being large. If your browser can’t run the model at all, the tool falls back to a multi-pass reconstruction (noise cleanup, progressive resizing, local-contrast recovery, edge-aware sharpening) — real image science, clearly labeled as non-AI, never presented as the neural engine.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. Both engines process your image entirely on your device. The only network activity is downloading the AI model file itself — your image never leaves your browser.
Does it preserve transparency?
Yes — PNG and WEBP output keep the alpha channel intact. JPG doesn’t support transparency, so transparent areas are flattened onto white for that format only.
What’s the maximum image size?
Input is capped at 25 megapixels and output at 64 megapixels to keep processing stable in browser memory. For very large photos, use 2× rather than 4×.
Which formats are supported?
JPG, PNG and WEBP everywhere; AVIF works in browsers that can decode it natively (all recent Chrome, Edge and Firefox versions).
Is AI Image Upscaler really free?
Yes — completely free, with no usage limits, no watermarks and no premium wall. Every tool on Tarumak Studio is free to use.
Do I need to create an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no login and no email required. Open the tool and use it immediately.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. The tool runs in any modern browser on desktop, tablet or phone — no app install needed.
