How to Merge PDF Files Online — Free, No Software, No Sign-Up

June 2026 3 min read

Combining PDFs is one of the most common document tasks — merging a cover letter with a CV, combining chapters of a report, or combining signed pages into one file. You do not need Acrobat or any paid software.

Step by step: how to merge PDFs

  1. Open the PDF Merger tool
  2. Click "Upload" or drag your PDF files into the drop zone
  3. Drag the file cards to set the order (the first card becomes page 1)
  4. Click "Merge PDFs"
  5. Download the combined PDF

How many PDFs can I combine?

There is no limit on the number of files. The practical limit is your computer's available memory. Most computers handle 50+ PDFs without issue. For very large PDF collections (hundreds of files), merge in batches.

Maintaining page order

The tool merges PDFs in the order you upload or arrange them. If you need to rearrange individual pages (not just files), use the PDF Organizer which shows a thumbnail of every page for precise control.

Are merged PDFs secure?

Your files process entirely in your browser. They are never uploaded to any server, never stored, and never seen by anyone else. You can merge sensitive legal or financial documents with complete privacy.

What if my PDFs are password-protected?

Remove the password first using the PDF Unlock tool, then merge. Note: you need to know the password to unlock the PDF.
